FAQ
Most commonly asked questions answered here:
WHAT TYPE OF SINGERS DO YOU WORK WITH?
I work best with students who are interested in being leaders in their own learning.
While I offer many tools, ideas, and techniques to explore in the studio, those who have the drive and curiosity to direct their learning outside of the studio are well-suited for my teaching style.
Regardless of age, demographic, skill, etc... deeply curious learners are always welcome at Free to Sing!
I welcome singers of any genre and style into my studio, but I have a special passion for contemporary genres, musical theater and the choral/classical arts.
DO YOU TEACH CHILDREN?
I have received ongoing training and education in working with adolescent voices.
As a parent myself, I recognize and celebrate the creativity and genius that each child possesses.
Voice lessons for children are taught differently, as our focus is on laying a strong foundation for life-long singing and music making.
I use curriculum from experts in the child vocal pedagogy field, and I also offer group voice lessons for
children ages 7-9.
WHAT IF CAN'T SING ON PITCH!?
Regardless of your current abilities, any one who desires to learn and study the voice can and should!
Singing is not something that just 'some people' can do. It is a motor skill that can be developed with time, focus, and repetition.
I honor each individual student based on your current skill set and the goals you might have.
I do not apply a 'one-size fits all' approach to my teaching.
ARE VOICE LESSONS REALLY WORTH IT? WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Learning to sing is an incredible lifetime investment.
Benefits of singing and performing include:
greater self-confidence; improved concentration; improved memory and cognitive skills; reduced stress and anxiety (and more!)
In addition to regular lessons, I also offer performance opportunities for clients,
valuable resources for you to explore outside of the studio, workshops, masterclasses, and more!
